The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) has begun the process of creating the next Regional Demographic Forecast. This forecast will provide long-range, small area population, household and employment projections in five-year intervals through the year 2040. Forecast data are created for use in intra-regional transportation planning and resource allocations. Completion of the project is planned for Spring 2010.
The forecast will be conducted for the 12 counties surrounding the Dallas-Fort Worth urban core, using January 1, 2005 as the base for household population and employment totals. The forecast will be
developed using a federally recognized land-use model that allocates
households and employment to the 12 counties for a regional control total, then disaggregates the totals to forecast districts, cities, and counties.
The methodologies used in the forecast process will be reviewed by the Methodology Review Group, and each city will have a representative in the Local Review Group which will be responsible for approving their city's forecast totals.
